Planning a four-year high school program is a serious undertaking. Although many of your courses will be determined by the graduation plan you select, you will still have many other choices to make during your years of school. The courses you select will be guided largely by your plans for the future.
Will you continue your education in college or in a trade or technical school? Do you want to learn a career skill in order to enter the full-time work force immediately after school?
The answers to these questions are extremely important for making decisions about your course selections for all four years in high school. Your interests and abilities should also guide these answers. Some students are sure of their plans; others are still deciding.
CCISD offers you many ways to prepare for a productive adult life—to make certain that you can control your future. The district’s high schools provide a wide range of programs and resources that prepare students for post-high school experiences: college, business school, technical school, military service, fine arts participation, full-time employment, and other areas. By planning wisely, you can create the future that is most appropriate for you.
Empowering Every Step of Your High School Journey
Selecting a Graduation Plan
In the State of Texas, public school systems throughout Texas now use the Foundation High School Program as the state requirement for graduation. The program identifies the requirements that all Texas public school students need to satisfy to earn a high school diploma.
The Foundation High School Program is a flexible graduation program that allows students to pursue their interests and prepare for high-wage, high-skill, and in-demand occupations. Students may customize their high school experience beyond the Foundation High School Program by completing requirements for additional components such as course credits, endorsements, the distinguished level of achievement, and performance acknowledgments. Students can choose from five endorsement pathways: STEM, Business & Industry, Public Services, Arts & Humanities, and Multidisciplinary Studies. These endorsements allow students to focus their studies on a particular area of interest and prepare for college and future careers.
-
Students can earn a Distinguished Level of Achievement by completing the Foundation High School Program with an endorsement, including Algebra II. This distinction on their diploma signals to colleges and universities that a student is prepared for the rigor of college coursework.

-
AP courses are college-level courses that follow a curriculum outlined by The College Board. Students who take AP exams and score high enough may be able to earn college credit.
-
CTE programs offer students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of career fields. These programs can lead to industry certifications and prepare students for entry-level jobs or further education.
